60 years ago this month, my parents received $200 for a living room set as a wedding gift from my grandparents.

My father convinced my mother to use that money to start a business.

 A few years later, Dad introduced the world to personal listening.  Today we will introduce personal listening to the world wide web.

Do You Use Facebook?

My son and I watched "The Social Network" last night.  It is a terrific film. I continue to be blown away by the numbers.....so tell me, "Do you use Facebook?"

 

Ultimate Workout Headphones

A few years back Bill Gates held up an MP3 layer (presumably an iPod) and told the audience at CES that he was the only person in the room wealthy enough to load it up to it's maximum capacity.

The hard drive on the model he presented could hold $10,000 worth of legally downloaded music.

How many lawns have to be mowed for a teenager to burn through ten grand?

Gates was pushing the concept of a subscription service that allowed players to operate with the Microsoft Plays for Sure system. 

The alternative to a subscription was bigger and bigger hard drives on iPods that eventually played full length movies.  Guess who won?

We developed a headphone a few years later that had an MP3 player built right in: The Koss Tugo. Since it was on your head and did not have wires to a hand held display, we limited the memory to 512K.  This meant your musical choice on the Tugo would to be limited to about 11 CD's....more than enough for a flight or a quick trip away from home.  (In fact it gets tough to skip through and find a favorite song if you load up too much music!)

Trainer BJ Gaddour instantly fell in love with The Koss Tugo as the perfect workout solution! No wires, nothing to strap on, just press play and burn fat with the Work Out Muse program he developed.

Our Headphone with a built in MP3 Player turned out to be a perfect product for a whole new use.

In the last year the number one question I have been asked is:

"Does Koss make a noise canceling headphone?"

The answer is yes.  And folks are amazed when I tell them that we introduced the first Koss model of our Quiet Zone Active noise canceling technology in 1993.  The problem then was that our retail base thought a headphone for $200 bucks couldn't sell.  They were wrong.

Another company (notorious for producing products with no highs and no lows) discovered the same thing and by-passed retailers to make a terrific mark in the direct mail space with an active noise canceling headphone at $350.

My advice is if you want to save one hundred bucks and get the incredible Sound of Koss in an active noise canceling headphone try the Koss QZ/900.  Be prepared to be amazed.

A Little Traveling Music

I got a big kick out of this article in the WSJ.  There are people traveling around the world by gaming the system.  It is absolutely amazing....of course it's tough to handle all these middle seats without getting lost in your favorite music.  Our new QZ/900 active noise canceling headphones save the day!
